Sunday 29th June
Keymer Under 11's took a heavy beating from unbeaten St James despite putting in their best bowling performance of the season. All of the bowlers were more accurate then in previous weeks and this coupled with a good fielding display, led by keeper Billy White, restricted the powerful St James unit to 302 off their 20 overs.Batting was a struggle as many of the St James bowlers were faster than the Keymer boys had faced before. 13 wickets fell in the 20 overs. Only the Ben Greenfield/Ed Fairfax partnership looked comfortable scoring 18 from their 4 overs. Keymer closed on 192 and defeat by 110 runs
Man of the Match - Billy White. Excellent display behind the stumps and showed some deft deflections when batting
Sunday 22nd June
Keymer & Hassocks Under 11's gave a spirited performance against table topping St Peters on Sunday. After being asked to bat first Keymer posted 240 from their 20 overs. 2 partnerships flourished - Dan Panico and Jack Eastwood both played positive shots and ran well in the opening overs and then Ben Greenfield and Simon Edwards put on 27 in their 4 overs with Greenfield finding the boundary on a number of occasions.St Peters showed their batting class by picking up regular singles to keep the score ticking along despite some good ground fielding from KHCC, particularly man of the Match Eastwood, Helen Whitehead and Greenfield. St Peters eventually totalled 291 from their allotment of overs
Man of the Match - Jack Eastwood - Despite suffering from hay fever he ran well, played some nice shots, bowled straight (no wides in 2 overs) and caught a skier off the first ball of the innings. A good all round display.
Sunday 8th June
The KHCC bowlers then showed some fight in their performance taking 3 early wickets to peg back the visitors but it was never going to be enough. Lewes eventually cruising home by 94 runs. Both George Ewing (3-1-10-2) & Rex Cleaver (3-1-12-2) bowled tightly and coupled with his excellent fielding George earned himself the Man of the Match nominationMan of the Match - George Ewing - Showed huge commitment in all parts of his game, despite receiving a nasty blow whilst batting. HIs efforts whilst fielding in the deep were an example to all.
Tuesday 27th May
A very young and inexperienced Keymer side took the field against Portslade and acquitted themselves admirably despite losing by 42 runs. Asked to bat first, Keymer struggled as Portslade's front line bowlers were just that bit too quick, however a determined partnership from Joe Mellor and Ed Coe of 22 in their four overs ensured that a respectable total of 260 was acheived.Portslade batted with great discipline and cruised to victory without losing a wicket despite some accurate bowling from Ed Fairfax, Ed Coe and Joseph Reed, who showed great bravery after getting hit while batting.
Man of the Match - Joe Mellor for his aggressive intent at the crease and the boundaries crashed through the leg side whilst still maintaining a good defence
Monday 19th May
KHCC Dads & Lads XI fell just short of victory against Henfield in a game they should have won comfortably on Sunday. Henfield batted first and were restricted to 115 - 7 by some excellent bowling from the Keymer youngsters. Wickets were shared around but mention should be made of Alex Vannan who bowled exceptionally well on his debut but had no luck.
The Keymer reply seemed to be progressing nicely at 73-2 but the rest of the team collapsed to only reach 103ao. Only openers Brad Panico and Paul Duplock showed any permanence at the crease as the promising position was thrown away.
Monday 19th May
Keymer U11's were given a cricketing lesson from a well drilled and workmanlike Ansty side. Ansty batted first and totalled 291 from their 20 overs, helped by 60 extras. Pick of the bowling was Under 9 Ed Fairfax who picked up a wicket with his first ball and bowled steadily against older boys.
The Hassocks reply never really got going as wickets fell steadily through the innings, consistently pegging back the score. Only skipper Dan Panico and man of the match Fairfax looked comfortable at the crease against accurate bowling from the Ansty attack. The final score was 211 and a win for Ansty by 80 runs.
Man of the Match - Ed Fairfax. Bowled generally accurately and showed a straight bat as wickets were falling around him.
Saturday 17th May
KHCC U11's were just edged out in an exciting match at Henfield to start their league season. After electing to field first skipper Dan Panico led from the front to take 3-10 from his 4 overs and also effected a direct hit run out from square leg. There were also promising debuts from Simon Edwards and George Owen who both picked up wickets as the home side totalled 265.
Keymer started their reply strongly with George Ewing, again on debut, to the fore with some crisply struck shots. Wickets fell a litle too regularly in the middle of the innings and with 4 overs remaining KHCC required 55 to win. This proved a challenge too fr but only just! Ben Greenfield with some mighty hitting and Ed Fairfax with some excellent running to support his free scoring partner took Keymer to within 9 runs of the total. Greenfield scored 25 with a huge six and 3 other boundaries but it was all in vain as Henfield hung to win an excellent game.
Man of the Match - Despite Dan's best efforts with ball it has to Ben for his onslaught that brought us so close to victory. Well done Ben!
